Experience

John Snyder, founder of Classic Island Homes, Inc., began his career in the construction industry in 1973, working in adobe construction on the restoration of the Old Mission San Juan Bautista in California. There he handmade adobe bricks, adzed redwood beams, and learned many facets of the building trade.

John went on to work on numerous custom homes in the Santa Cruz area. He also owned and operated his own cabinet and woodworking shop.

In 1993 John started Classic Craftsman Log Homes, and built the company into a successful contracting operation in Lewis, Colorado. He built handcrafted log dwellings, specializing in high-end, one-of-a-kind, homes. In 2003 John founded Classic Island Homes, Inc. on the island of Kaua'i, a company aimed at building creative homes that harmonize with the natural beauty of the islands. Drawing from his background as a college art major, John blends influences from the Craftsman movement together with Scandinavian and Polynesian styles to craft island-style homes. Through Classic Island Homes John has served many satisfied customers that have become fast friends.
